“Fortune and glory kid…Fortune and glory”

As the anticipation grows for the release of Indy IV my second film is the middle of the (so far) trilogy – Indiana Jones and the Templ of Doom.
This film is often forgotten about when Indy is talked over as many people dont like it and feel it was too dark. The truth is…it was dark…it was great though!
This was Indy for the older kids and adults. The story was well thought out and moved through Asian locations bringing into view places many people had never seen before. Alongside this the introduction of a vicious cult (links to Spielbergs ‘Young Sherlock Holmes’ here) and the possession of Indy turning him against his friends, child slavery and an evil dictatorship running a puppet government and you had all the makings of a dark but great story.
No-one complains about how dark the Harry Pothead movies are becoming yet this was a step too far for some and many people I know havent seen it since their first encounter.
They, in all honesty, are missing out on a classic. You cant beat ‘Raiders’ in my opinion but this falls in a close second.
